Creating a composite steel-deck floor in Mouans-Sartoux.

Mouans-Sartoux

More and more, creating a composite floor is a common request from our clients. Building one takes real know-how and expertise from a professional. Our recent project in Mouans-Sartoux is a perfect example. One of our clients decided to renovate and redesign his new home. He chose to remove the existing floor and replace it. To meet his needs, we advised him to build a steel-concrete composite floor.

The composite floor has many advantages. Thanks to its structure, you can lay any type of floor covering or waterproofing on it, and it is easier to match them to the dimensions of the floor and the elements passing through it. You will have no trouble running the ducts you need, even during the concrete pour. As for waterproofing, it performs remarkably well. The composite floor lets you hang ceilings easily and has excellent acoustic properties. It is an economical floor that needs very little concrete while offering excellent circulation and good resistance to rises in temperature, particularly those caused by fire.

We started the composite floor work by setting up a frame of 7 HEA100 steel joists, chemically sealed into the various load-bearing walls. This frame carried a steel grid of HEA sections acting as joists for the finished floor. Then we dealt with the underside of the floor by installing composite decks, i.e. steel decks. Generally, they serve as formwork for the concrete slab. These decks were then fixed to the beams and joists already in place, forming a continuous surface that prevents any concrete leaking. Once this phase was complete, we covered the steel-deck floor with welded mesh panels, overlapping them by one mesh. We poured the concrete to a thickness of 15 cm, covering the mesh completely.

As after each of our jobs, we coated the steel structures with anti-rust paint to protect them effectively. Finally, we handed over a completely clean site, free of all the rubble generated by the work.
