OUVERTURE MURS PORTEURS TRÉMIES is a company ready to handle projects with special requirements. It takes on all demolition and strengthening jobs as well as steel construction projects. As experts in building mezzanines, we enhance your interior to your wishes, taking into account the technical characteristics of your home. Our commitment is to offer you fully secure living spaces, with work thought through down to the smallest detail.
Recently, we carried out a job in Cannes La Bocca, extending an existing mezzanine. Then, in a second phase, we modified the existing staircase so that it could reach the new structure. To start such work, we called on a structural engineer to set out a specification for the job. Before every job begins, we carry out a preparation phase to protect the place where we are working. On the floor, we lay hardboard panels to guard against falling rubble. Windows and furniture are covered with adhesive sheeting to protect them from dust.
The first step in extending the mezzanine was to prepare for the new structure by fixing a 10 mm flat steel bar to the old structure with chemical anchors. The new part of the mezzanine was built with HEA100 beams, connected with angle brackets by welding and bolting. The work was carried out perfectly, with confident know-how and in line with the design rules.
To give the impression of a visually lighter structure, our client chose a glass floor. For this, we used floor panels with 35 mm thick glass that meets current safety standards, a material recommended by our supplier Glass Solutions Saint Gobain. To complete the mezzanine, we made a steel stair railing in the form of a balustrade and installed light strips around the floor panels.
After strengthening the structure with steel, we could then calmly go ahead with building a steel staircase with 13 treads made from 10 mm steel angles. For a modern look, the client chose timber treads: natural oak, 22 mm thick.
To finish the job, anti-rust paint was applied to all the steel parts of the structure. This protects the ferrous parts and gives them a longer life. Again with the aim of creating an impression of spaciousness, our client opted for white paint.
After each of our jobs, we take care to remove all the protection, clean the premises thoroughly and put back any furniture or objects we had moved beforehand.
