Our technical team recently carried out a stairwell opening in a house in Antibes. The client wanted to link the basement with the ground floor.
Cutting an opening in a floor is a very demanding operation that calls for many precautions.
Before demolishing the concrete floor, we installed propping to support the structure temporarily. We then began the careful cutting with a diamond circular saw.
To reinforce the new edges of the stairwell opening, our technical team designed a reinforced concrete frame, cast in timber formwork. The necessary reinforcement and the anchoring into the existing floor were done with HILTI RE500SD chemical anchors at each end.
Once the concrete had cured, we removed the propping and cleaned the site, leaving it in its original condition.
