With this alteration, you can create quick access from the ground floor to the 1st floor without having to rethink the whole layout of your spaces. Cutting the opening affects the load-bearing structure of the floor, so our technicians first check the feasibility of the operation by examining the condition of the framework and whether it is strong enough to be modified.
For this project, we cut the opening in the floor with an electric chainsaw and a specialist diamond-tool machine, and removed the existing IAO steel beams.
The steel structure was built to the layout drawn up by the engineering office our clients had consulted. To form the reinforcement structure of the opening, split beams and HEB140 S235 steel trimmer beams were used. The beams are assembled with splice plates, bolts and welds. The beams are connected to the trimmer beams with steel angle sections.
To finish the job, we apply anti-rust paint to all the steel parts and clean the room throughout. Clear of clutter, the space is handed over spotlessly clean, with a brand-new steel staircase leading to the floor above.
