Creating an opening in a load-bearing wall. Steel structure reinforcement in Grasse.

OMPT supports clients with load-bearing wall remodelling projects in all types of homes. Among our projects, creating an opening for a door is a common one. In Grasse, we recently carried out this type of work, including strengthening the opening with a steel reinforcement.

First, we covered the floor, windows and furniture in the house with self-adhesive sheeting to protect them.

To take over all the loads carried by the wall to be demolished, we installed a system of vertical props and planks.

The reinforcement consisted of a single HEB140 lintel, 2.20 m long, sealed into the wall at each end with non-shrink mortar. Wedging and dry-packing with non-shrink mortar were applied above the lintel.

After cleaning the site and painting the steel structures, our team handed the premises back to the owner.
