Enlarging a doorway in a load-bearing wall in Juan-les-Pins. Installing an IPN beam

A load-bearing wall is essential because it carries various loads in a building, such as the weight of a floor or part of the roof. Its size and position are crucial. Any alteration, whether drilling or partial demolition, must be carefully planned.
We carried out this job in collaboration with the structural engineering office INGENICE. The structural engineer checked the feasibility of the project and prepared the execution drawings, which we followed precisely.
Before starting demolition, we took care to protect the premises so we could return them to the client in perfect condition once the work was finished. We installed a propping structure to support the loads of the upper floor during the work on the load-bearing wall.
Demolition of the load-bearing wall could then begin. We cast a reinforced concrete padstone to support the lintel on one side. Next, we installed the vertical steel reinforcement and placed an IPE200 lintel above the opening.
As with all our projects, we applied a coat of anti-rust paint to the steel structure to protect it.
