OMPT GROUPE, an underpinning specialist on the Côte d’Azur, recently completed a job enlarging an opening in a load-bearing wall in Vallauris
The process began with the installation of vertical propping, using props and timber planks to carry the loads of the ceilings and load-bearing walls during the work. An existing opening was then enlarged using a diamond circular saw and specialised equipment, ensuring a precise and safe cut. The rubble was removed in compliance with current standards.
To ensure structural strength, an HEA160 steel beam was installed. It was fixed with angle brackets and high-strength HR bolts, with non-shrink mortar caulking to optimise load transfer. Each steel element was protected with anti-rust paint, improving the durability of the whole.
This job was carried out in accordance with the recommendations of a concrete structural engineer and with current technical standards.
