Demolishing a load-bearing wall is often part of a renovation or property redesign. Recently, the OMPT team was called in for a detached house in Mougins to carry out a project involving an opening in a load-bearing wall and the strengthening of this key structure.
Ahead of the job, a temporary support system was cleverly set up to distribute the ceiling loads evenly during the demolition of the load-bearing wall.
Once all the necessary precautions had been taken, we made the opening itself. For this delicate operation, an electric chainsaw and a specialist machine were used with care.
The reinforcement strategy was implemented as a steel beam resting on a steel column at one end and sealed into the wall at the other.
To preserve the durability of the steel elements, a coat of anti-rust paint was carefully applied.
At the end of the work, the site was handed back in impeccable condition, cleared of all debris from the operations.
