Opening a load-bearing wall in Théoule-sur-Mer with a steel lintel and mixed columns

In a house in Théoule-sur-Mer, our team made an opening in an interior load-bearing wall. The aim was to improve the flow between two areas of the house: a living room and an adjoining storage space with an opening to the outside.

This structural change required the installation of an HEA200 steel lintel, sized to take all the loads of the removed wall. At one end, the beam was carefully sealed into the existing masonry, providing a solid anchor in the building structure. At the other end, a column made from a UPN200 section was installed, fixed to a base plate chemically anchored in the slab.

The work was carried out under temporary shoring to keep the structure safe during the removal phase. Particular attention was paid to the bearing of the lintel and the finish of the supports, so that they integrate cleanly into the future interior fit-out.
