We recently created a small door opening in a load-bearing wall in Lagny-sur-Marne. The purpose of this opening was to bring light into the stairway from the living room.
For this job, we first laid a self-adhesive site protection sheet to protect the client's floors and furniture. Then we set up vertical shoring to support the ceiling temporarily while the wall in question was demolished.
The wall was cut using an electric chainsaw and a special machine. We built RC padstones embedded in the wall to support the future lintel. The last step was to install the HEA120 lintel, bearing into the wall at each end with non-shrink mortar. The whole steel structure was coated with a special paint to protect it from rust.
