OUVERTURE MURS PORTEURS TREMIES offers a range of work to improve your property. Our team specialises in different types of work on your load-bearing walls. A client came to us looking for a solution. His detached house had a wall with no openings at all. The rooms were very dark and had no natural light. After studying the structure of this wall, we proposed creating two windows to bring in the missing light. For this project the client chose not to use a BET.

Creating these two windows began with general protection of the premises. Then we cut pockets into the wall and set RC padstones, embedded 20 cm into the wall, to support the double lintels. Next we placed the first lintel and then the second on the padstones, having first cut chases on each side of the wall. The lintels were joined together with through threaded rods. The gap above the beam was then packed with non-shrink mortar. The steel was coated with anti-rust paint to prevent any deterioration over time. After all these steps, the window was cut out, and the same method was used for the second window. The job was finished with a general clean-up.
