Reinforcing an existing door opening in Vallauris

We recently completed a job in Vallauris that perfectly illustrates our expertise: the structural reinforcement of a door opening in a load-bearing stone wall.

A load-bearing wall plays a fundamental role in the stability of a building. It carries the weight of the floors, the roof and sometimes even the walls above. Altering or reinforcing an opening in this type of wall calls for a rigorous technical approach to guarantee the safety and longevity of the structure.

The first step was to carefully protect the work area, to preserve the premises and limit the disruption for the client. At the same time, a temporary propping system was installed. This trestle-type arrangement transfers the loads of the load-bearing wall for the whole duration of the work.

We then prepared reinforced concrete columns, which form the base for the vertical reinforcing elements. These reinforced concrete columns, strengthened with steel reinforcement, were cast in place with calculated precision to guarantee optimal load transfer.

Above the opening, we installed a double steel lintel.

Each steel element was protected with anti-rust paint to prevent any risk of corrosion and ensure maximum durability.

Finally, a meticulous clean-up was carried out and all the initial protection was removed, leaving the client with a spotless, safe space.
