In addition to opening up load-bearing walls, OMPT also specialises in strengthening with steel structures and reinforcing timber beams.
Our new project in Paris aimed to reinforce an existing timber beam. Its feasibility was studied by the BET (structural engineering office), and we followed its recommendations step by step.
First, to create a bearing for the IPN 160, we filled in the recess with concrete blocks. Two existing timber posts were removed.
On the lower floor, a double IPN160 beam was installed, clamped (moisage) onto the existing joist with 17 threaded rods. The same strengthening method was repeated on the upper floor.
All the steel structures were painted with an anti-rust paint.
At the end of the works, we cleaned the premises.
