In Grasse, we carried out the strengthening of an existing timber floor after deformations appeared and as part of a check of its structural capacity. The aim of this work was to durably reinforce the structure while keeping the existing framework in place.
After studying the existing structure, the chosen solution was to build a steel frame made of UPN and IPE sections to take over the floor loads. The steel beams were installed under the timber load-bearing elements and linked by steel crossmembers to ensure an even distribution of forces across the whole structure.
Given the layout of the premises, the work required precise adaptation to the existing elements, in particular the services passing through the floor. Each steel piece was made to measure and then assembled on site in accordance with the execution drawings prepared by the structural engineer.
This reinforcement solution limits floor deflection, improves its stiffness and increases its load-bearing capacity without changing the overall architecture of the building. It is a particularly suitable answer for old buildings whose timber structures need to be secured or adapted to new loads.
Specialising in floor strengthening work in Grasse, steel structure reinforcement and work on load-bearing elements, OMPT GROUPE supports homeowners and professionals throughout the Alpes-Maritimes. Our teams regularly handle projects involving timber floor reinforcement, structural repairs, load-bearing wall openings and floor opening creation, relying on precise technical studies and solutions suited to each existing structure.
