OMPT GROUPE, which specialises in all types of structural reinforcement, was called in to work on a refurbishment project in Cannes. After partitions were removed without prior reinforcement, the timber beams were found to be sagging, making emergency work necessary to secure the structure.
On the precise recommendations of a structural engineering office, OMPT GROUPE implemented a solution suited to the situation. The work began with protecting the common areas of the building, using special sheeting to minimise nuisance and avoid any damage to adjacent areas.
The teams then demolished the false ceilings to reach the weakened timber joists. Once the structure was exposed, a reinforcement was designed and installed to stabilise the floor. The solution chosen was to install an HEA240 main beam, together with three perpendicular IPE270 steel beams.
The various elements were connected using steel angle brackets, precisely welded to ensure optimal strength. The beams were sealed into the walls at each end and rest on reinforced concrete padstones, ensuring a balanced load distribution and lasting reinforcement of the structure.
Once the structure was reinforced, a coat of anti-rust paint was applied to all the steel beams to protect them against moisture and corrosion over the long term. Finally, a meticulous clean was carried out and the premises were returned to their original condition, leaving a safe space ready for use.
Thanks to OMPT GROUPE's expertise, the floor has regained its strength, ensuring the safety of the occupants and the longevity of the structure.
