Our team recently worked in Fayence on a timber floor strengthening job in an old building. The existing timber joists had lost structural strength, compromising the safety and stability of the structure.
As specified by the structural BET, we carried out twin-beam clamping of the timber joists with UPN steel beams. This technique pairs each weakened joist with steel members, fixed with coach screws, to guarantee a strong, lasting timber-to-steel connection.
Thanks to this method of structural reinforcement, the floor regains its original performance:
- Increased mechanical stability to carry the loads,
- Greater durability thanks to the timber-steel combination,
- The option of safely planning new layouts on the upper floor.
This project in Fayence illustrates our expertise in strengthening timber floors, clamping joists and using made-to-measure steel sections to meet the demands of renovation projects.
