Project carried out in 78110 Vésinet in the load-bearing walls category

The company OUVERTURE MURS PORTEURS TREMIES is able to carry out complex projects involving several types of demolition, strengthening and, of course, construction. We are experts in designing mezzanines that add value to your interior space. Our expertise ensures you get perfectly safe living spaces, built with attention to detail.

This is a project recently completed in Le Vésinet. It required demolishing partially load-bearing walls and false ceilings in order to create a mezzanine with a stairwell opening.
Our client asked for the expertise of the BET (structural engineering office) to confirm the feasibility of the project and the technology recommended by the engineers for the work.

Before any work, we protect the premises and reinforce the building with vertical propping. This means placing props and timber planks at strategic points.

First, we reinforced the existing timber columns with a UPN160 steel structure 3.80 m high, placed and welded on 2 base plates at the bottom. It is connected to the existing corner pieces by welding at the top. It is then fixed to the existing columns with M12 threaded rods every 40 cm. This operation demands great skill and is essential for the work to continue.

Demolishing false ceilings

This covers the demolition of 60 m2 of false ceilings throughout the apartment, including the removal of the cover strips hiding the joints. The chimney was then blocked off and the timber mezzanine and its access stairs were demolished. Rubble removal and the hire of scaffolding to carry out all these operations were planned in advance.

A made-to-measure mezzanine

Various types of steel were used to build the mezzanine: HEA160, and IPE 140 for the infill between joists around the floor opening. The connections between beams are made with splice plates, angles and bolting. Everything is carried out with suitable quality materials and in accordance with good building practice.

A polished finish

After all the work, the steel structures are painted with anti-rust paint to provide long-term protection. The site is always cleaned and handed back in perfect condition.
