Demolishing a load-bearing wall is far from a trivial operation. Backed by its expertise, our company Ouverture Murs Porteurs Trémies helps home owners who want to transform their living space.

Our client in Saint-Laurent-du-Var wanted to take down two load-bearing walls and strengthen the structure with steel beams.

After carefully protecting the premises, we installed vertical propping using props and timber planks to support the ceiling and the load-bearing walls.

A poured-in-place concrete block wall and part of another wall were taken down with an electric chainsaw and a specialist machine.

Next, a 3.80 m HEA200 beam was placed on the RC column on one side and sealed with non-shrink mortar into the retained column on the other side. Another 1.80 m HEA200 beam was joined to the perpendicular HEA200 beam with a steel angle bracket and sealed into the existing column on the other side. The tops of the beams were packed with non-shrink mortar.

Finally, a coat of anti-rust paint to protect the steel structures completed the job. After cleaning up ourselves, we handed the premises back to the owner.
